Iden's First Birthday Celebration
Iden celebrated his 1st birthday today! We decided to keep it small and just a family affair. Only our immediate family members were invited and we were glad it was kept as such.
The birthday boy had a traditional meal for lunch - mee suah + 2 red eggs + 1 chicken drumstick. Perhaps it was a change to his usual porridge lunch, Iden gladly finished the meal.
To make sure that he would be in his top form for the party at 5 pm, we rocked him to sleep after lunch. Thank goodness, we did.
The guests started coming in from about 4 pm. They were treated to a 'quite nice but can be improved further' dinner. The main event of the day was the cake cutting moment at 6 pm.
We ordered a Pooh Bear cake and Elmo jelly for Iden. Well, at least he had two of his favourite characters to celebrate his birthday with him. After a round of photo taking sessions, we finally could sit down and sang birthday songs for Iden and cut the cake!
Next, we had Iden to choose from a range of items we had prepared. Well, there were a few items like a book, a pen, a calculator, a hammer and a dollar note. For the benefit for those who do not know what is this about, well, the Chinese has this practice for a 1 year old toddler to choose an item to determine what will his career be like in future. Iden aimed for the calculator immediately and the old folks said that he would become an accountant next time. True or not? Time will tell.
The party ended at about 9 pm and it was time for Iden's last milk feed and sleep. He must be so tired after a whole day of activity..... sleep tight, my baby.....
